Description Incorrect Description? Tell Us!Acklam was a village in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was known as Aclun in Domesday Book. The name is Anglo-Saxon Old English for 'at the oak clearings'.

It was incorporated into the county borough of Middlesbrough during the early 20th century and is now a small suburban area of Middlesbrough in the borough of Middlesbrough and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. The postcode is generally TS5. Running straight through Acklam, is Acklam Road.

Just off Acklam Road is Hall Drive. Middlesbrough College's Acklam Campus is located on this road, as indeed are the schools of:

*Kings Manor
*Hall Garth School
*St David's School (Middlesbrough)

Also branching off from Acklam Road is Lodore Grove, at the end of which is a School called Acklam Grange Secondary School. Just up Trimdon Avenue there is also Acklam Whin primary school which is located on Carlbury avenue, and also St Clare's primary school on Trimdon Avenue itself.
