Description Incorrect Description? Tell Us!Eglinton is a large village in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It was formerly known as Muff and lies just outside the city of Derry. It serves as a sleeper-town to Derry city. Many inhabitants work in the city and send their children to school here. Eglinton had a population of 3,165 people in the 2001 Census. The City of Derry Airport is a short distance from the village.

Eglinton (established by the Worshipful Company of Grocers between 1823 and 1825 ) still has an elegant church, former market house, trees around a green and two oaks which started life in Windsor Great Park. Muff Glen is situated just south of the village. At an embankment of Lough Foyle, birdwatchers can find the feeding ground of many seabrds and waders on the mud flats at low tide.
